The moment AI starts adjusting its own goals, you have lost control of the system.

Three Stages

Stage 1: Human-Directed (starting point)

Humans define every change. AI executes. All adjustments require human approval.

Stage 2: AI-Suggested

AI proposes improvements. Humans review and approve. AI learns from approval patterns but cannot implement without sign-off.

Stage 3: AI-Managed

AI adjusts within pre-defined boundaries. Humans set the boundaries and monitor outcomes. Boundaries themselves require human approval to change.
